Open Day at Omāroro Reservoir

The reservoir will be open between 10am-11am, with entry via Hargreaves Street.

Visitors should wear closed toe shoes with a good grip. Tramping boots or trainers are ideal. Children are also welcome, but will need to be very closely supervised with one adult per child under the age of 12.

Visitors will be able to visit the top of the reservoir via a scaffolding ladder – offering great views of Wellington. If you're wary of heights, this might not be for you!

These visits will be in small groups of a maximum of 15 at a time, accompanied by one of the project team. There are barriers in place, and the team will ensure people are kept safe.

Visitors will also be able to go into the reservoir itself and walk under the half of the roof we have poured and see the scaffolding in place for the second half of the pour, along with various pipework in place.

Indeed, the interior is cathedral like and will likely take your breath away!

This will be a once in a lifetime experience as we will be prohibited from taking visitors inside the reservoir once the second half of the roof is ready for pouring.
