CCTV investigations are underway in Woburn and Epuni to determine the method of renewals work required in each area.

Background

This is a one-year programme of work that aims to improve the condition of the wastewater network and reduce the risk of wastewater entering groundwater, the water supply and local waterways.

CCTV investigations in 2015/16 were undertaken in the Epuni and Woburn and the wastewater gravity mains and several manholes were found to be in poor condition. The key defects in the sewer system are as follows:

 Faulty and displaced joints

Root intrusions and fat build up

 Lateral problems

 Exposed aggregate and reinforcing corrosion

 Pipe dips

 Broken and holed sections.

Over the next year, Wellington Water will be:

 renewing 2.8km of wastewater pipes,

 renewing 45 manholes,

revisiting another 1.1km of wastewater pipes in the area.
