Tangare Drive Pump Station Splitter Box Renewal
On behalf of Porirua City Council, we are carrying out renewal works on the Tangare Drive pump station to improve the performance and resilience of our wastewater network.

July 2023 Update: Due to several unforeseen events there have been delays to the project meaning work in the pump station is now expected to continue until September 2023.
There will also be a period of time in January - February 2024 when contractors will return to site to complete works in the summer.
Why are we doing this work?
A pump station is an important part of the wastewater network that collects, stores and pumps wastewater when it can't be carried naturally by gravity.
The flow splitter box in the Tangare pump station is in poor structural condition. Renewing it will improve the performance of the pump station, helping increase the resilience of the Porirua wastewater network, and reducing the risk of wastewater spill to land or the marine environment in an earthquake or major storm event. It will also address historic issues with odour from the pump station.
