Water conservation
Wellington Water treats and collects water from rivers and the Waiwhetu aquifer. It doesn’t matter how much it rains as we can only collect and store so much.
Our region's winter daily demand 4 years ago was about 150 million litres per day, but with more and more leaks this has been getting up to about 170 million litres some days.
In summer the amount of water available in rivers slows down, while what we use increases While we fix the worst leaks on the public network, there are 3 things households can do to help protect the water supply.
