Untreated, unscreened wastewater has been discharged into Tarakena Bay. Check LAWA.org.nz before visiting beaches.

Due to heavy rainfall in the catchment area, the short outfall is discharged untreated, unscreened wastewater into Tarakena Bay between 2.26pm and 7.47 pm on 5 June. There was a previous discharge via the short outfall between approximately 2 am and 4am.
