Severe weather conditions may impact the network

Due to severe weather conditions forecasted from today, 30 April until Friday 2 May, there may be impacts on the network,

Heavy rain increases the chance of excess stormwater entering the wastewater network, which it doesn’t have capacity for. This means there is a higher risk of wastewater overflows during wet weather events or emergencies such as major power cuts.

Our operations team are checking known risk areas and working to ensure that the stormwater network will be running as smoothly as possible.

As part of our work to upgrade Upper Hutt's drinking water network and improve access to safe and health drinking water, we are getting underway with renewing the drinking water pipes in the Totara Park Road area.

The work is still in the design stages and this involves carrying out investigations to locate utility services in the area prior to renewing the water pipes.

Our crews will be excavating in your area from Monday 8 May to Friday 12 May 2023. Hours of work will generally be 8:00pm – 5:00am Monday to Friday.

To do this work we may need to dig trenches across driveways and pathways, but we won’t enter any private properties. We will restore driveways and pathways to, at least, their pre-work condition.

The construction works are expected to commence in September  2023 and take around four to five months to complete.
