Water Restriction Level 1 is now in effect across Wellington City, Lower Hutt and Porirua, joining Upper Hutt and South Wairarapa who are in Level 1 year-round.

Water Restriction Level 1 asks people to use sprinklers every second day.

If you live in an even numbered house, you can use sprinklers or irrigation systems on even numbered days between 6-8am and 7-9pm. If you live in an odd numbered house, the same rules apply for odd numbered days.

Wellington Water Chair steps down

Wellington Water’s Board Chair Geoff Dangerfield will be stepping down from the Board after four years of service.

“I’d like to thank Geoff for his significant contribution to the organisation,” says Wellington Water Chief Executive Colin Crampton.

“Geoff joined our Board as a Director in 2017 before taking on the role of Chair in 2020

“He leaves the Board and our organisation in a very strong position to grow and thrive.”

Lynda Carroll, who was appointed to the Board in June 2021, will take over from Geoff as Chair from 4 November 2021.

Lynda has more than 20 years' governance experience, combined with 30 years' experience working with Boards, CEOs and senior managers aligning strategy, governance, performance, and culture, often in times of significant change.

“I’m excited to be given this opportunity to become Chair of Wellington Water,” says Lynda.

“I look forward to the future, working with the Board and the great team at Wellington Water.”

A separate appointment process is underway to fill the vacant Director role, which will be announced once completed.
