Severe weather conditions may impact the network

Due to severe weather conditions forecasted from today, 30 April until Friday 2 May, there may be impacts on the network,

Heavy rain increases the chance of excess stormwater entering the wastewater network, which it doesn’t have capacity for. This means there is a higher risk of wastewater overflows during wet weather events or emergencies such as major power cuts.

Our operations team are checking known risk areas and working to ensure that the stormwater network will be running as smoothly as possible.

Project work at alert level 3

Under Alert Level 3 we’ve been able to bring more of our projects back up to speed. This means you may see more of our crews out and about getting on with essential infrastructure work, from a Manganese Reduction Plant project in South Wairarapa, and a watermain renewal in Island Bay,  to putting the finishing touches on a bulk watermain project in Porirua. Strict safety measures are in place including our workers keeping to their ‘bubbles’ on site and carefully controlling movements in and out of work sites.

In deciding which projects to tackle when, we’re starting with the most critical jobs and we’ll be adding to the list as work progresses, and as we move through the national Covid-19 Alert Levels.
