Wellington Water crews stopped a wastewater overflow in Grenada Village which flows to the Porirua Stream. Residents are asked to avoid the the Porirua Stream from Grenada Village including Tawa to the outlet at the mouth of the Porirua Harbour until further notice.

As untreated wastewater entered the stream, these areas are unsuitable for the public for wading in, fishing, or gathering food from. Signs have been put up and sampling will be undertaken tomorrow morning.

Drinking water safe to drink

Update: 15 November 2016, 2pm

Our drinking water is safe to drink and there is no need to boil it (unless you are making a cup of tea of course!).

The earthquake did cause some discolouration of water for some residents; this should have cleared by now, so if you do still have dirty water, please let your city council know.
