Your water networks run from hills, rivers and lakes, beneath city streets, through homes and businesses, to harbours and the sea.
It's important such an extensive, complex system is run in a coordinated way - especially for something as important as water.
Wellington Water manages the three water networks - drinking water, wastewater and stormwater - for Hutt, Porirua, Upper Hutt and Wellington city councils, South Wairarapa District Council and Greater Wellington Regional Council.
That includes looking after more than:
- 6,300km of pipes
- 138 reservoirs
- 249 pump stations
- four drinking water treatment plants.
