Alert Level 3

This project is critical and essential and will start up under Alert Level 3. All of the necessary safety precautions will be followed, including the use of PPE.

A large excavation is open and poses a hazard to the public. Crews will be onsite to close this off.

What's happening?

Wellington Water will soon be getting under way installing a large valve and chambers on the existing 900mm diameter bulk water pipeline under Belmont Road. The project will increase resilience and reduce timeframes on future pipeline maintenance.

This work will take about 8 weeks from the week starting 21 June to the middle of August 2021. Hours of work will generally be 7am-5pm Monday to Friday, with some Saturdays worked if necessary.

To allow this work to be carried out a temporary road diversion around the site is planned.  This diversion will be single lane with a reduced speed limit of 30 kmh.   There may be times when the contractor needs to place machinery on the diversion road for short time periods this will be done in off-peak times.

After Hours please contact the Porirua City Council contact centre on 04 237 5089.
