Port Road watermain renewal

September 2020

What's happening?

Wellington Water is committed to improving the condition of the existing water network. On behalf of Hutt City Council, we are now preparing to upgrade the watermain pipe in Port Road.

This project will take about fifteen weeks, from 14 September through to late January 2021.

Hours of work

Hours of work will generally be 7:00 am – 6:00 pm Monday to Friday and may include some Saturdays as required.

The work will involve trenching the area to expose the existing pipes, which will then be replaced in stages. There will be a large number of people involved in this work with equipment on-site, including oversized earthwork vehicles and handheld construction tools.

Our work will generate significant construction noise at times, but we will do our best to keep this and other disruption to a minimum. You can contact our project team at any time regarding any concerns in this regard.

As this work involves the freshwater main, we do foresee some managed, temporary water-supply interruptions during the work. Details of these will be communicated in advance of any interruption

There will be traffic management on-site, though we should not need to restrict vehicle access to your driveway or property for any significant time. Where this is the case, our team will contact you. There may be some small delays for your customers and traffic passing through the worksite.

On-street car parking in the area alongside the worksite will be restricted, and we ask you to please not park your vehicles within the coned-off areas. We will have some controlled parking in place throughout the site, which will be indicated for use.
