What's happening?

We will shortly be undertaking further investigative work to refurbish the storm water culvert which runs under Kent Terrace, between Pirie Street and Ellice Street.

Given the high volume of traffic using this area during the day, this work is scheduled to be carried out overnight on the nights of July 9th and 10th, weather allowing.  If the weather is not suitable on these dates, the work will be rescheduled to a suitable date before 24th July.

Work will largely be in the bus lane starting at Pirie Street and running along Kent Terrace to Ellice Street and will likely include a two-lane closure of the left side of Ellice Street. Four manholes will be open during the overnight work and barriers will be set up around each of these. Traffic management will be provided.  Four service vehicles will be on site and the work may generate some noise over these two nights.   We will try to ensure these are kept as far from apartments as possible.

This project is essential and is part of Wellington City Council’s infrastructure renewal programme and is being managed by Wellington Water.   If you have any concerns or would like more information on the project please contact Sophie Scott on 027 703 6280 or Wellington City Council on 04 912 4400.

Thank you for your understanding as we work to improve the infrastructure in our city.
