Donald Street Pump Station - Featherston
Wellington Water is upgrading the Donald Street, Featherston Wastewater Pump Station.
This pump station deals with all wastewater on the east side of Featherston and is an important part of the town’s wastewater network. The existing pump is old, and in need of replacing to prevent failure in demanding weather situations.
Upgrading the pump station will mean it will be able to cope with Featherston’s wastewater needs for future anticipated increased demand.
The pump station is currently located at a high-risk location, underneath an intersection in the middle of State Highway 53 that links Featherston and Martinborough. Therefore, the upgrade will include moving the pump station to the roadside berm area of Donald Street.
There will be some disruption to State Highway 53 and Donald Street while the pump station is being upgraded and moved. Traffic control/detours will be in place.
Time Frame: Work is scheduled to start in November 2023 and be completed by approximately March 2024, taking about four months to complete.
