Update 23 September - Interruption to Water Supply Belvedere Road & Evans Bay Parade

We are renewing the water supply network in your area. This means that water supply will be interrupted to your home or business for a short time. The shutdown will affect properties on Belvedere Road and Evans Bay Parade.
This is scheduled to take place from: 10:00am to 2.00pm on Friday 25 September 2020.

The water will be back on as soon as possible, but we recommend you fill up some containers with water before the time above and avoid running your dishwasher, washing machine or any appliances that use water. It’s best not to use water from your hot water cylinder either as the cylinder may get damaged if the water level gets too low. When the water supply is turned back on, it’s a good idea to open a cold tap slowly and let it run for a minute or so to clear any air bubbles that may have entered the system. Air can cause the water to turn a milky colour, but this won’t affect the taste, and should clear quickly.

Update 7 July

Wellington Water will soon be getting under way with replacing the water main in Belvedere Road, Hataitai.

This work will take about 13 weeks from 13 July to 9 October 2020.  Hours of work will generally be 7:00am – 6:00pm Monday to Friday. The work will be split into two main sections; Overtoun Terrace to 30 Belvedere Road will be completed first, followed by 30 Belvedere Road to Evans Bay Parade.

The road will be closed to through traffic from 14 July to 9 October, including nights and weekends. Vehicle access to your property will be available from one end of Belvedere Road or the other, depending on the location of the worksite relative to the location of your property.

Detours will be in place while the road is closed. The extent of the road closure is shown on the following page; the works will be completed in sections approximately 60m in length at a time to minimise disruption.

FAQs

Why do you need to close the road?

The existing water main in Belvedere Road is nearing the end of its operational life, and needs to be replaced. Unfortunately Belvedere Road is too narrow to install the new water main while maintaining a lane for vehicle traffic past the work area.

How long will the road be closed?

Belvedere Road will be closed to through traffic 24 hours a day from 14 July to 9 October 2020.

I live half way up Belvedere Road, can I still drive to my property?

For the majority of the duration of the project you will have vehicle access to your property, but only from one direction. When works are being carried out directly outside your property vehicle access may not be possible. We will advise when works impacts vehicle access to your property.

Works will start at Overtoun Terrace and move down Belvedere Road towards Evans Bay Parade. If your property is uphill of the work area, vehicle access will be from Overtoun Terrace, if you property is downhill of the work area access will be from Evans Bay Parade.

Can still walk to my property?

Yes, route for pedestrians will be maintained from Overtoun Terrace to Evans Bay Parade for the duration of the project.

I have visitors, can they park on the street?

Sections of street parking will not be available during works, these sections will move as work progresses. No parking areas will be clearly sign posted.

What about refuse collections and couriers etc.?

These will continue as usual. If you’re ordering items for delivery e.g. Uber Eats please advise the delivery company whether they should approach from Overtoun Terrace or Evans Bay Parade.

How can I get updates as the works progress?

If you want to receive text message or email updates about the project, please forward your contact details to Ben Eveleigh, on 021911788 or ben@ccl.co.nz. Additional letter drops will be carried out before, or to notify you of any significant changes to the planned works.

Please contact Ben Eveleigh, on 021911788 or ben@ccl.co.nz. Alternatively you can talk to any of our site team during the works.
