Stop-go operating in Wallace Street 24-26 July

Published 24/07/2019

We are currently carrying out the enabling pipeworks for the Omāroro reservoir, a major project to build our city's water resilience.

As part of the enabling works, a stop/go traffic management system is operating on Wallace Street.

WHEN: During Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, 24-26 July, between 9am-4pm.

WHERE: The intersection of Wallace and Hargreaves streets

WHY: The stop-go system will protect workers and keep the public safe while work is being done to upgrade local pipes.

WHAT WILL IT MEAN FOR YOU?

Drivers can expect short details. If at all possible, please avoid the area during the stop-go hours and use Adelaide Road as an alternative route.

For pedestrians, safe and supervised access around the site will be maintained while the stop go is in place.

Buses will be given priority.

We apologise for any inconvenience this will cause, but this is an important project for Wellington city. Omāroro will provide critical additional bulk water storage for Wellington’s central business district area and low-lying suburbs to improve operational and disaster resilience.

While we're doing this work, we are also taking the opportunity to upgrade local drinking water, storm water and wastewater pipes as well. Some phone, fibre and electricity cables are also being relocated.

Thank you for your patience!
