Pipelines work progresses into Howard Street
Work begins in Howard Street this week, preparing for the installation of the bulk water main.
Work begins in Howard Street this week, preparing for the installation of the bulk water main. We’re having to remove the garden in the middle of the street to do the work, but it will be reinstated once the new main has been laid. The two olive trees in the garden are being saved. Arborists will carefully remove and look after them until they can be replanted in the garden.
The Howard Street bulk main will run from Wallace Street to the Tasman Street intersection, where a new valve chamber will be constructed. It will be similar to the valve chamber being built at the intersection of Wright Street and Hargreaves Street, but will be quicker to complete as no services are in the way. We expect both chambers will be finished around the end of November.
Residents of Howard and Tasman Streets will be kept informed about any parking and access restrictions through letterbox drops. Please check for these updates.
With the garden removed from Howard Street, residents will have access to the street at all times via Wallace Street.
Work continues to progress well in Hargreaves Street, installing the bulk mains, and in Wallace Street, replacing the local water main.
