Arborists have begun removing large old pine trees at Prince of Wales Park as work progresses to prepare the site for construction of the new reservoir.

Further vegetation clearance will start on 14 September and all materials, including the pine trees, will be chipped and mulched for use in sediment control in the construction phase.

Work has also started on the upper playing field, with site access tracks being put in and foundations laid for the project cabins and containers.

The next stage will be development of the residents' car parking area and creating a new pathway connecting Rolleston and Hargreaves streets.
