Why keep stormwater and wastewater separated?
Having two separate systems is a safe and cost effective means to manage both wastewater and stormwater.
Rain water inflow and groundwater infiltration can overload the wastewater system. This increases the amount of wastewater being treated and the cost of treatment. As well as protecting the environment from sewer overflows, fixing these problems reduces the cost of upsizing the pipes to meet current and future demands in the catchment.
