A fat blockage in the network that caused the overflow of wastewater in the Wellington harbour near Shed 5 has now been resolved.
Our crew have discovered a leak on our main outfall pipeline which runs from the Seaview Wastewater Treatment Plant to Pencarrow.
The infrastructure that supports the water network could be negatively impacted after a large earthquake, resulting in significant disruption to the management of drinking water and wastewater. We’re taking this risk seriously, and are working to improve resilience across the network.
The extreme weather in Porirua over the last few years is a reminder of the flooding risks that we live with in our island nation. To help understand these risks and plan for the future, we’ve completed computer models of the likely impact of extreme rainfall on much of the urban areas of Porirua. Flood modelling helps us identify areas that are likely to be affected by extreme rainfall events.
